If you look up someone on facebook - do they know you visited?

There are certain applications in Facebook which allow you to share visitor data, but if you do not have these installed then no. Facebook admin will know if they had a reason to check their logs, but the account holder will not be aware unless you post.

What Lad said is correct, however it's my understanding that Facebook and disable and doesn't encourage those tracking applications due to phishing and ID theft. Also, if you just perform a search on an individual, and you only see the pages of search results without ever clicking on their specfic picture/profile, then there wouldn't be a way for those tracking applications to ever kick in. So if you're trying to be an unknown Facebook stalker, you're safe!! :)
