"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hi,

Here's the steps for you to refer.

1. Create a File DSN for Microsoft Excel Driver.

Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Data Source (ODBC). Switch to the File DSN tab and click "Add". In the dropdownlist, select "Microsoft Excel Driver (*.xls,*.xlsx,*.xlsm,*.xlsb)" . Click "next", create the name of the DSN and click next,  click "finish" to create the DSN file you just configered. Then you'll see a dialoguebox named "ODBC Microsoft Excel Setup", Choose "Excel 12.0" in the version list of database and click "OK". Finally a dialoguebox named "Select workbook" will appear and please set the target excel file's path and click "OK". You'll see a new .dsn file has been set up.

2. Use DTS to export the data to Excel2007 file.

Open your SQLServer Enterprise Manager, right click the database and choose "All Tasks->Export Data". When choosing a Destination, you should choose "Microsoft Excel Driver (*.xls,*.xlsx,*.xlsm,*.xlsb)" and make the File DSN radio button checked, select the DSN file you set just now. (Generally the file is located in /Program Files/Common Files/ODBC/Data Source/..)

Through the steps above, you can export the data to Excel2007 file from SQLServer2000.
