Migrate Roaming Profiles from SBS 2003 tot SBS 2008

We have SBS 2003 and are going to install SBS 2008 on a new server. We are using Roaming Profiles on the SBS 2003 and want to migrate it to SBS 2008. Is it possible to just copy the folder with the profiles to the new SBS 2008 server and then edit the path of the profile on any user account on the SBS 2008 server? Or will I have some issues because SBS 2008 uses a another type of profiles?

Hi first check this migration guide: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc546034.aspx

The roaming profiles are not affected by the server version afaik so you should be able to do it manually also, just make sure your redirection paths in GPO are correct as that sometimes fails during migration.

I have read this document but I can't find anything about roaming profiles, only folder redirection. My point is will the roaming profiles automatically be migrated to the new SBS2008 server when I run the Migration Wizard?

I dont think they will automaticcly, just move them manually and edit the paths to it in your new AD.  I've never tested it with roaming profiles as i'm not a fan of them.  And the wizard has very little info to show during migration.  Just check on the new server if they did, if they don't just move them manually.
so ttphil, it does move all roaming profile folders of the users automaticcly over the network?
