How to uninstall SQL Server 2005 Express Edition?

I'm running a server on which I restored the system state using backup exec.  This server is a domain controller, exchange server and should also be running the blackberry pro software.

It appears that the machine "thinks" that it has SQL Express installed (which the previous server that the system state came from did).

I am trying to install Blackberry Pro software on this machine, which requires (and tries to install SQL 2005 Express edition).  I have also tried to install the SQL server manually to no avail.

Add/remove programs wouldn't remove the SQL programs from the program list.  I used the Windows installer cleanup utility to get them out of there...but the SQL still won't install.

SQL errors out with the following message:
SQL Server component update will install the following components required for SQL Server setup:
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Setup Support Files
Errors occured during the installation.  Error 1603 installing Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Setup Support Files.  See Log File for more detailed information.  Fatal error during installation.

(I've attached the log).  Clicking close gives a .net framework initialization error which says:
To run this application, you must first install one of the following versions of the .net framwork: v.2.0.50727.  Contact your application publisher for instructions about obtaining the appropriate version of the .net framework.

The goal is to get the SQL Server 2005 Express edition "out" of the computer, so I can install the Blackberry Pro software (which installs the SQL server).

Add/remove programs shows .net framework 1.1 - device update 4.0, and .net framework 2.0 service pack 1.
However, its possible that this is not really installed and just a leftover from the system state recovery.
Thoughts?
Try reinstalling the latest .NET which is 3.5.

That unfortunately didn't work either.  I've found a bunch more ophaned programs from the AD recovery.
I've built a new server and abandoned this one.  Thanks for the help anyways.
