I'm installing Windows 7 RC on my Acer Aspire L5100. Need driver for HDD or controller

I boot from install cd, select language, and keyboard. It asks me for driver. I think its for harddisk or controller. Have tried everything. PC was preinstalled with Vista Home, and I have burned at cd with drivers (factory). Have also looked at acer support web. Have used a software called Driver Magician to save all installed drivers to a USB stick. But can't seem to find the right driver.

I think it's the same thing that you need when you install XP and press F6 early in the install process.

Can you help me to fint the right driver, så I can continue with installing W7 ?
Thanks :-)

A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now.
HDD: Seagate ATA SATA-II ST3750630AS
Motherboard: ATI RS690/RS690M Revision 00

Are you providing Vista or XP drivers? What is the CD/DVD you are using is this a USB/IEEE1394?  Check the windows 7 Hardware Compatibility list.
The DVD/CD driver might be what you need.
I'm providing Vista Drivers, I think. Don't know what you mean by USB/IEEE 1394 (firewire ??).
I will look into the Hardware Compability list.
Is the DVD you are using internal or is it an external DVD connected through a USB or a 1394 interface (Firewire)?
The error clearly states that the need is for a CD/DVD drive device driver.
It's internal. But I don't understand why it asks for cd/DVD driver. I boot from DVD and it starts installing, so it must have a driver for DVD ???
When it boots it uses the ATAPI mechanism.  It's possible that when windows 7 loads, it gets an unexpected response.  What is the make and model of your CD/DVD drive.  I.e. this is a DVD burner and that might be what causes the hiccup in the installation process.
OK, but I'm still not able to find the right driver. Can you help me?
If I choose Repair your computer instead of Install now, windows 7 finds my harddisk. So it must be de CD/DVD driver it needs.
May be I should try to install from an USB stick instead?
It does not matter how you plan to install.  See whether the DVD drive you have has drivers that came with it.
You can make a bootable USB stick and have the windows 7 boot on it.
The issue for your difficulties is the need for the CD/DVD drive device drivers.
I found a cd called "Acer Drive formatter" disk. I'll try that one now. I can remember that I had to to this to another maskin, downgrading from Vista to XP.
Looked better for a while, but it ended the same. So now I'm installing XP pro. Giving up on WIndows 7
:-(
Thank's for your time.
Now I have the same problem with a brand new L670G. I can download Chipset driver from Acer, but it contains a setup.exe file. I can't extract that one, to get the files I need. Anyone ???
