Using Microsoft RDP what happens when I remotely connect to a computer that does not have the same resolution is that the screen shuffles all the icons on the desktop in auto order along the left-side. As I have a plethora of icons around and separated so I can easily find things, I was wondering if there is a way (setting or maybe third-party app) that makes it so that the icons do not move/re-shuffle.

Icon Restore is recommended.  After installing it, simply place your icons wherever you want them on your desktop, right click My Computer (or any 'system' icon) and left click on "Save Desktop Icon Layout" from the pop up menu.

If your icons ever get moved because your computer entered safe mode or you changed the screen resolution, right click My Computer (or any 'system' icon) and left click on "Restore Desktop Icon Layout" from the pop up menu ...
