SqlServer inventory Report


I want to take a entire inventory report for my legacy sqlserver2000 since i moved all of the databases from sqlserver2000 to sqlserver2005.so,I need to shut down my legacy system in future
would you please send me the script for recording of all inventory(databases,objects,jobs,alerts,logins,users e.t.c) on my legacy system?

For starters, how about stopping the SQL service and then taking a file system backup of all the data.

Now to script... I'd recommend using a series of loops within SSIS or VBScript/PowerShell, to loop through level by level, grabbing all the info you want.

Won't be trivial, but it will almost certainly be worth doing using something which loops better than T-SQL.

He could backup all databases (including the system ones), but if he stops the services and backs up the whole machine, he could virtualise it and spin up his server when required. That way, he won't lose local Windows users & groups either.

I guess it all depends on what kind of DR plan he needs.
