Serial Port problems - Two COM1 appear in hardware manager

I have a computer that has 2 serial ports. I need to use both ports to connect some specialty hardware. For some reason though, when I go to hardware manager, I see two items: Communications Port (COM1) as opposed to:
Communications Port (COM1)
Communications Port (COM2)

I checked the BIOS and the ports have separate IRQs.

What could be the issue?

OS is WinXP Pro

Could be anything... You can change the port to what ever you like...

Device Manager -> Ports (COM&LPT) -> *select the port you wish to change* -> Port Settings TAB -> Advandced button and assign it to COM 11 or something that is not going to conflict with something else.
