mailto groupwise

We have a databaseprogram with client e-mail addresses. We use maito:me@business.com to make it clickable. This works fine when our customers use Outlook but not when they use GroupWise. Any suggestions for a GroupWise command?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

When you say "your customers use Outlook, it works fine" but when they "use GroupWise" it doesn't work.  What do you mean by this statement?

Customers who have GW as their messaging system and use the GW client don't receive your outgoing email properly while people who use Exchange and use Outlook as the client receive it properly?

Sorry for my vague description. We have developed a database that we sell to schools and in the database they store e-mailadresses to the pupils. The database is developed with Access -  MQ SQL. In the code we use mailto: to open the mailprogram with the present mailaddress. If our custumers use Outlook it works just fine but if they use GW as their e-mailclient i doesn´t work. I suppose we have to use an other command than mailto: for the GW ckient to open. Hope this makes it clearer.

Try going into Internet Explorer > Tools > Internet Options > Programs and make sure that the Email is set to GroupWise.  Also try running a fixmapi in a command prompt.

Lastly go into Control Panel > Add/Remove programs  and confirm that the GroupWise Internet Integration (mailto thingie) is installed.  It is supposed to get installed by default but please confirm it is there.

Groupwise is RFC compliant whereas Outlook is less Than.  If you use a subject in the link then the syntax is slightly different. See the link I posted earlier for the difference in the syntax.  The Groupwise syntax should work in Groupwise but what is acceptable for outlook won't work in groupwise.
