Do I want to buy IP addresses?

Our company is switching ISP's in six months.  The new ISP is having me jump through hoops to get a class c, which my current ISP provides us.  During the switch, there will be a lot of updating, DNS, Firewall, IDS, etc.

Is there any reason why I wouldn't want to buy a block of portable IP's from ARIN?  What are the pros and cons of that?  I already have an ASN, if that helps.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

It's more expensive to buy IP's from ARIN but there are the obvious benefits, portability/provider independence being the big one.
