Updating ADM for IE7

Hello,

I am trying to update my ADM for Internet Explorer from the IE6 version of the ADM to the IE7 version.  I have downloaded the adm from  http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=11ab3e81-6462-4fda-8ee5-fcb8264c44b1&displaylang=en for IE7 and ran the MSI and it did not update to the newer version.  I manually updated the file and still not showing me the new features that are available for configuring IE7 in Group Policy.

The two versions I have are dated: Currently installed (11/4/2006) and the ADM from MS is (10/3/2006)

The questions I have:

What is the correct ADM to install to get this functionality: http://www.mattbrindley.com/images/ie7runonce1.gif

What is the best way to install the ADM?

Has Powershell sent you back into the Stone Age?

If managing Active Directory using Windows Powershell® is making you feel like you stepped back in time, you are not alone.  For nearly 20 years, AD admins around the world have used one tool for day-to-day AD management: Hyena. Discover why.

I just tested downloading the IE 7 ADM for XP
http://www.microsoft.com/Downloads/details.aspx?familyid=9AE91EBE-3385-447C-8A30-081805B2F90B&displaylang=en
I extracted the files and have the same 10/3/2006 date as you (see screenshot)
I'll download IE8 and see the date on that version too..just so you have the info
Thanks

10/3/2008 is the one we can download from the web - but it does not seem to work for me.  The Administive templates - Windows Components - Internet Explorer page looks exactly the same.  In one of the server 2003 (windows) updates it has upgraded the ADM to 11/4/2008 which is still an outdated looking ADM.

Maybe I will try the IE8 ADM

The IE8 ADM will work, you obviously can't set IE8 specific GPOs for IE7 but the IE7 settings will be there for you.
Good spreadsheet that has all the settings (you can filter by version)
