Unable to copy files to server share - Access Denied
I've created a folder share on a Windows 2003 server and given full access to an Active Directory group that we've created, but group members are receiving an 'Access Denied' message when trying to copy files there.   ??

See screenshots attached.

I don't want everyone to have full access to this folder.

sailing_12... by doing this Everyone will not have access because the sharing security works in conjunction with the Security tab settings...

shadowless is correct. Give the everyone group full control on the share permissions. The security tab is where you will then have granular permissions set. This should clear up your problem. You can check this by creating a user who is not in the web downloads documents team and see if you can access the folder.

I think that may have fixed it - waiting for one of my users to test.

I never could understand the share permissions logic... seems counter-intuitive to have permissions in two places and set share permissions to everyone/ full control while setting security to something else - what's the point in that?

Windows Server 2003 was based on Windows XP and was released in four editions: Web, Standard, Enterprise and Datacenter. It also had derivative versions for clusters, storage and Microsoft’s Small Business Server. Important upgrades included integrating Internet Information Services (IIS), improvements to Active Directory (AD) and Group Policy (GP), and the migration to Automated System Recovery (ASR).
