Which version of ESX are you using ? ESXi 4.0 or ESX 4.0 ?
HDSDSAuthor Commented:
ESX 4.0 a.k.a vSphere.  The newest version.  Changing the IP address seems to be different that in 3.5.  does anyone know what to do or where to look?
vmwarun - ArunCommented:
FYI, vSphere is the name of the entire product line (vCenter 4.0, ESX/ESXi 4.0, VMware Fault Tolerance, etc)

By default, Service Console takes the name of vswif0 and is bound to vSwitch0.

Use this command to check the Service Console details.

esxcfg-vswif -l

To change the Service Console's IP Address

esxcfg-vswif -a vswif0 -p Service\ Console -i 192.168.1.2 -n 255.255.255.0 -b 192.168.1.100

This is the error that I get when trying that command:
"invalid PortGroup: ServiceConsole
Error trying to perform operation sysinfoException: Node (5005) ; Status(bad0003)= Not found; Message Unable to get Int"
vmwarun - ArunCommented:
Try esxcfg-vswif --help to get syntax
ryder0707Commented:

esxcfg-vswif vswif0 -i 192.168.1.2 -n 255.255.255.0
