I was told by my IT support company that once the tapes reached a certain age they could be reused.
I was to check in the Locations portion of the tree and look in the offsite section
There it would show when the tapes are due to come back in to the office
Tapes due back in would have a date with a timer icon
However I have a bunch of tapes due in but not with the icon?
Why is that and how can I reuse these tapes please?

I cant just put them back in - they then stay with the same icon and Commvault complains no usable tapes.

The tapes for the other office appear to be given the right icon.
My understanding of it is once the tapes are written to you export them to Offsite Tape Location.
Then in a years time or whenever they become available for re-use
The icon should change to the egg timer one.
You put them in the tape unit and Commvault scans and reuses.
When you say import
Do you mean load the drive up, right click library & import media?
So right click library, import media
Finds the tapes. All still have the blue square
Go to Locations section- offsite tapes
Tapes listed as location being offsite but are shown ascurrently in Library
Right click a tape, properties
Location changes to slot 10
Try another one - correctly identifies slot
Hit refresh, all locations are set back to offsite tapes - no slots.
Dont understand.
If a tape has a return to date, whiy is the icon not changing
And why when I put it back i nthe drive is it not being recognised as no longer offsite
And why doesn't importing change the location to mact the slots?

Select delete, type erasne and reuse and move onto thenext one.
Support crowd reckon this is an "issue" with commvault.
It's not an issue on the other site where the tapes
Also can't right click tape, recall media - Need Vaultracker license (despite already having one)

The term "Backup" means the methods and processes involved to copy computer data (system data as well as application data) to media other than the ones where the data originally live (disk, tape, optical, cloud). "Restore" in turn means the methods and processes involved in data recovery, i. e., bringing back copied computer data to their original location. Backup/Restore primarily serves as a means of protection against data loss, be it due to disaster, corruption or sabotage. It can also be used for recovering data from an earlier point in time and even for cloning machines or applications. There is a wide variety of backup/restore software available, from expensive commercial products to free or open source tools.
