Java Message Service tutorial

Hi: Does somebody know Java Message Service? I have been used JMS with J2EE 1.4. How to integrate hibernate/spring application with JMS? What kind of JMS is used together with Spring/Hibernate, for example, Sun's or IBM's? Are there open source, free JMS package?
