I need to download dat file from SFTP using VB.Net 2.0. Could you please provice some sample code?

The dotnet framework does not support SFTP.  However there are other libraries out there that you can use for SFTP.  Probably the best out there is
http://www.chilkatsoft.com/ssh-sftp-component.asp

but it is not free, the following one is
