Hello, we have one webserver connected to the SQL server with teamed nic, cat cable directly from webserver to SQL. Would I get any better perfomance by increasing MTU size? Is there other settings that you would recommend chaning from default?

Before tuning th enetwork side, I would recommend evaluating the precise top network throughput required by *all* servers combined, at a given point in time.  This information will give you a clearer perspective on the problem.

Usually exchanges between SQL servers are the highest consumers, especially in datawarehousing environment.

Then it looks that it would be difficult to blame the network for a performance issue.  Your best bet would be to look on the db side..

Why a C?  I believe that I have answered your question the best I could.  Drawn from the EE guidelines.  Just keep in mind I do this voluntarily.

What's the right grade to give?

Grading at Experts Exchange is not like school. It's more like the "10-point Must" system in professional boxing; in other words, an answer is worth an A, unless it doesn't resolve your issue. If it requires you to do a little more research, or figure out one more piece of code, then it's worth a B. If you think it's not worth a B, the custom is to offer the Experts an opportunity to earn a better grade.

Giving a higher grade has no impact on your Available Points.

Because the question from the start wasn't related to any performance issue, but how i could set it up in best practise, I did not get any answer to how the MTU size change connection speed for SQL data.

If you still mean that I graded wrong, is there any whay I could change it?

<< I did not get any answer to how the MTU size change connection speed for SQL data.>>
That's because there is no direct answer to that kind of question.  The two concepts are orthogonal.

<<If you still mean that I graded wrong, is there any whay I could change it?>>
If you want to change the grade, click the *Request Attention* button.
