password recovery asp.net not working on email address outside the server

developing in .net 2008

I have implemented a simple textbook version of the password recovery module which only seems to work when the recipients email is on the same domain (or perhaps on any domain on the server).

When I try to use it on an email address from a different domain it always crashes.

Though maybe it was a setting in my mail admin but nothing there.

Its gotta be something simple. See attached error message.

figured it out. a legacy of an old shared server on my mail settings in web config file. Simply used localhost on the host setting.
