Our customer is creating a new company file in QuickBooks to start their new fiscal year on July 1, 2009. (The old company file is very large and they also need to clean-up their inventory and customer files. Creating a new company file was the suggestion from a QuickBooks advisor and was acceptable to the customer.) We can export most of the data they want from the old company file to the new using Excel. They want to import payroll information and employee totals into the new file to avoid issuing two W-2s at the end of the year. We have checked the Intuit website and forums for ways to export and import payroll information but have not found a solution to their request. The websites seem to indicate payroll data cannot be transferred.
1. Has anyone successfully transferred payroll/employee information and totals from and old company file to a new file?
2. If all payroll transactions cannot be transferred, can employees year-to-date payroll information be entered in the new company?
Any suggestions will be appreciated. This issue was just presented which leaves us with little time to investigate and implement.
