Simulate HP hardware failure

I'm trying to test HP-CMI by simulating a hardware failure on a HP machine.  Their HP-CMI will create an WMI event when a failure is detected.  I need a way to simulate the failure to be able to see the events being generated.

Pull a cable... that's generally the best way to simulate a failure.  (preferably with the power off - unless its a system you don't care about).
