How to restore server-side Exchange rules from backup?

Hi all,

We deleted a mailbox (at the request of Microsoft & Blackberry), and when we restored the mailbox (we had done an Exmerge beforehand, so just re-imported the messages), we realized that all the users server-side rules were gone!

We have Backup Exec backups of the Exchange server - but how do we restore just the server-side rules?

Thanks!

Hello,

It isn't possible to restore just the server-side rules. You will need to restore the whole mailbox. Assuming you have not exceeded the time you have set to keep deleted mailboxes, you can expand you store in ESM, click on Mailboxes and the mailbox should be listed with a red circle and X. Right-click the mailbox, select Reconnect and connect it to an AD account that doesn't have a mailbox. You can then log on to the mailbox and export the server-side rules.
