Unable to the clipsrv on a Windows 200 server

Hi,

I have a service running at 100%, servicesrv.exe

When traced back this points to the clipsrv service.

I have tried to disable this service and also installed a copy of msconfig to try and remove this. All attemps have failed.

I am the administrator on the box.

Any ideas on how i can stop this ??

Regards

Are you able to boot into safe mode, set the service to disabled and then restart?

You could alstry going to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE in the registry under System, CurrentControlSet, Services find the service and set the start value to 4 which is disabled.

Demazter,

Thanks for the first suggestion. I'll try first thing in the morning and let you know.

I have checked the registry and found a key entry for ClipSrv but no detail / string contained within ?

It is the clipboard service, do you have a small clipboard in the systray by the clock?
If so this is probably managing the service.

This is work around required however, there is a process or device preventing this from being turned off.
