Outlook/MAPI connections query

Hi Guys

I had an Outlook/MAPI query I was hoping someone could help me with.

If someone is using Outlook (2003/2007) and has access to multiple mailboxes in their Outlook profile, will they be using multiple MAPI connections, or will it be just one?

Is anyone aware of any types of applications that would result in multiple MAPI sessions between Outlook and Exchange being opened? What if they had a Blackberry?

And if Outlook had access to just one mailbox - and there weren't any other applications running - would there be only one MAPI session running?

Hope someone can help

I dont know if this will help you or not but if you hold control and right click the outlook icon in your taskbar you will see an option for connection status. This will show you all of the conneections that outlook is making to your exchange server, domain controllers, etc.

I would think that you could test this by using one account and then open a second mailbox to see if the connections increase.

As far as the blackberry goes I guess it depends on how you are using it. Do you have a blackberry enterprise server? If so then the server itself is making the connections to exchange. I am not sure how the blackberry redirector works with exchange connections.
