installing old print drivers

installing HP Laser 2200dtn printer remotely and keep getting error message "Unable to install printer. Operation could not be completed (error 0x000003eb)   I have in the past installed the printer and had not problem.  its connected by USB cable.  Second question - what is the proper port when using USB connections

You probably need to clear your old print drivers from the machine you are trying to install it on. Make sure none of your old installs for this printer are still present - if so delete them. Once that is completed either reboot or restart your print service from the services console. After that go to you printers and in empty space right click. A menu will pop up with "server" - choose this option. From here if there are no printers installed that are currently using the driver you should be able to delete the current driver. After you do this the printer will probably install fine.

As far as your port question goes, usually they will pop up as either USB001 etc. You shouldn't really have to do much with this because it should detect where the printer is installed?  Sometime old drivers will create havoc for you, sounds like that is what you have going on.
