How to import IMAP email data to local pc

HI
I have a hosting plan for mail and use webmail I want to bring my all mail data to my local PC. I tried with POP but it will only import inbox not folders so I use IMAP I get all folders too but  IMAP did not import data in local PC.
My question is is there any way to bring my webmail data to my local pc using IMAP

Hi,

No you can't download mails through the IMAP protocol because Internet Message Access Protocol (commonly known as IMAP, and previously called Internet Mail Access Protocol, Interactive Mail Access Protocol (RFC 1064), and Interim Mail Access Protocol[3]) is an Application Layer Internet protocol operating on port 143 that allows an e-mail client to access e-mail on a remote mail server.

IMAP supports both on-line and off-line modes of operation. E-mail clients using IMAP generally leave messages on the server until the user explicitly deletes them. This and other facets of IMAP operation allow multiple clients to access the same mailbox. Most e-mail clients support either POP or IMAP to retrieve messages.

Hence If you want to download mails from the server then you have to USE pop3 protocol and if you want to manage mails in outllook then you can create Rules which will move the mails to specify folder.

Regards,
sam
