CRM Generates Winmail.dat Attachments for Outgoing Emails

We are using following:
DC
Exchange
CRM
Outlook Configured as email Client

Our General Manager and a staff from Sales department has enabled Tracking feature of CRM for all emails and when they are using CRM, just after that config some outgoing emails are arrive to target user's inbox with winmail.dat attachments.

For example, when they send Outlook 2007 Excel attachments with *.xlsx extension, receiver will see resulting file with winmail.dat  extension.

So what should we check first?

Typically when you see winmail.dat files its because the recipient isnt using Outlook or the email client they are using doesnt understand messages sent from Outlook.  Check how users are sending emails.
Make sure Outlook is setup to convert messages to HTML when sending to internet addresses.  If this was never a problem before, unfortunately it sounds like CRM is the culprit and I'm unaware of the fix in this istance. Maybe try setting up outlook to send all messages in HTML format.  Also make sure you have all current updates installed and look for any hotfixes.

Gikkel, thanks for suggestions, i also suspect CRM but was unable to solve the issue even after applying updates.

The problem drives me crazy, so i am open to another suggestions.

What if we disable tracking feature?
This time we won't be able to track messages i guess.
