Drop in script to create web gallery?

I have various folders on my web server. These folders are filled with jpegs.

Is there a script that I can just drop in the folder containing the images that will automatically create a thumbnail gallery of the contents of that folder when I access it with a browser over the internet?

It seems like I remember seeing scripts like these before but I didn't need them at the time so didn't pay them much attention.

The only real requirement is that the script should require no configuration and should be free.
