Joomla and Apache

Hello!
I successfully installed Joomla 1.5,Php and Apache on XP Pro.I used XAMPP.
I used IIS 5.1 Now I disabled the IIS service, obviously.Personally I would prefer IIS,it's easier to use and configure, but from what I heard Joomla works much better with Apache.
So should I learn Apache just for Joomla's sake or its not worth it?
Speaking of Apache...besides the fact that its open source and free...Is there any technical advantage that it has over IIS?

Each sever support its certain language, and even you can add-on php and mysql for IIS and asp.net and sql for Apache, you will notice the big differences when running add-on instead

i have found apache to be much stable and hassle free than IIS, plus there are tons of configurations you can play with.
