"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

This is either a problem with the hard drive or CD drive. Most likely the hard drive.

You may need to do a low level format to completely blank the hard drive and remove any type of corruption.

Try a program called Derek's Boot and Nuke (DBAN). You can also try the format option (not the quick one) during the xp install. It will take a bit, but should help.

If that still doesn't work, you may have a bad hard drive.  Try downloading the ultimate boot cd from www.ultimatebootcd.com and running some of the hard drive diagnostics on it.
