9 minutes Delay from Categorizer to Start Outbound Transfer!

Hi all,
I have a question regarding a strange delay within an Exchange 2003.
I sent a message to a recipient in my organization, belonging to another server, routing & administrative group and my Exchange server queued it for remote delivery.
It took 9 minutes before starting the transfer of it!!!

No network errors at the time, no other queues, Server resources were free, and everything worked fine. Nothing in between the servers and this has never been noticed before.

Logs are clear and nothing strange reported
Any ideas what might have cause this?

This could be caused by Anti Spam software.  Anti Spam typically hooks in to the categoriser to intercept mails to be scanned.  We had a similar issue with mail being delayed in the categoriser and it went away when we disabled the anti spam software (Sophos Puremessage).  We reenabled the software and it's been Ok since.

Thank you for the answer but it's been happened only once. It's not a permanent problem. And it was with a simple test message. So, i don't think that would be the case.
Good hint though for similar issues.

Yes it only happened once to us.  It seems that the Anti Spam software just had a glitch or something and when we fixed it, it has been OK since.  In our case it affected the users though and they were complaining about delayed emails
