I have a HP LaserJet 3390 on the network that has a static IP address. When trying to load the HP software on a new computer. When installing the software it asks me for the IP address, I enter it and it tells me it can't find the printer on the network. I can open a web browser and type in the IP address of the printer and the printers web interface comes up, so I know it has connectivity! I did do a search and something said to open UDP Port 427, which I did, but it did not make a change.
have you tried to add the printer without using the software? Go to add printer and choose local printer attached to this computer and uncheck automatically detect.... then click next. On the next screen choose create a new port and select Standard TCP/IP Port, then on the Wizard, type the IP for the Printer Name or Ip Address field, which will populate the Port Name field and then follow the rest as normal. When lookig for the printer int he list, if it does not show, choose have disk and navigate to the cd and it will find the drivers and then populate the list and then you are done.
