Hi

I have a problem, i tried to run the routing and remote access wizard to enable vpn access and it failed now the routing and remote access service is in a stopping state, i have rebooted but its still in a stopping state how can i resolve this?

Where is the log file so i can start and see whats wrong?

Any one any ideas

i found the log file vpncw in program files windows small business server logs

Use the VPN wizard under the Connectivity tab found under the Network tab in the SBS Console.

That is the proper method for enabling the VPN setup in SBS 2008.

Make sure that the firewall/router/gateway appliance has been set to allow 1723 PPTP and it's secondary GRE protocol (gets enabled by default when 1723 is port forwarded) is forwarded to the SBS 2008 box.

Traditionally, RRAS wizard is accessed via the RRAS console. The SBS VPN Wizard is a part of the SBS Console under the network connectivity tab.

They are two different wizards.

And yes, I did have a look at your second log a bit more thoroughly and now realize that you were running the correct wizard. So, my apologies for not looking closer.

What is the status of the RRAS service under Services.msc?

no prob i fixed the issue it was an issue with IP V6 not being enabled so reenabled it and now the wizard runs fine.
