Cannot Recover an undeleted FM database

I have a filemaker database I recovered from a mac drive that someone accidentally deleted it off of. I cannot get FM to recover teh database on a pc or a mac, what happens is the program  just bombs out during stage one of the 16 steps in the recovery. Any ideas on how to recover this database. it's 4 gigs.

this guy is quite nice, I already exchanged information with him.
so may not be free, but in your situation (or your customer's), worth paying to fix it, but I leave you little hope

4GB?? whatever is the size, crashing here means the file is severely damaged; any backup?
and 4GB is crazy anyway...

how can you keep a 4GB db without a backup....
I am afraid the situation is desperate... there is one guy who knows about fm at the binary level od files, maybe he would have an advice, it's the owner of fmpro migrator.

it's a customers database, who was told to get Time Machine setup, and he didn't. If you can refer me to some people, that'd be great.  FM Pro Migrator, got a website/email/phone?

Thanks,
