Disable/Mute sound of Windows Media Player in Web Browser

I am trying to programatically mute/disable the sound of video/music played in Window Media Player in an IE session. Any suggestions on how I should proceed, e.g. API or DLL?

Thanks,

MF

From MSDN http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd564337%28VS.85%29.aspx

<!-- Create an HTML CHECKBOX control. --><!-- Create an HTML CHECKBOX control. -->
<INPUT  TYPE = "CHECKBOX"  ID = MUTE
             onClick = "
                        /* Use the CHECKBOX state to set
                           the mute property. */
                        Player.settings.mute = MUTE.checked;
