How to change mac address in linksys cable modem

I need to change mac address in our linksys cable modem.  i have befcmu10  version 4.0

I think you're out of luck.  There's no way to change the mac address in that particular modem.  Not sure why you'd need to, though.  Your ISP will be seeing the MAC address of whatever device (usually a router) is connected on your side of the modem anyway.

There is a way.  I know a couple guys that i dont talk to any more that do it.

The MAC address of a network device is created by the manufacturer of the device when it is built.  I suspect it is illegal to tamper with the physical address of that device, kinda like tearing the do not remote tag from a hotel mattress.

Nice.   It's possible to change the MAC address of a lot of routers, modems, and NIC's (and there's certainly nothing illegal about it), but not that particular model.   Good luck, though.
