Does version 9 of Cobian backup perform an online backup of Exchange on SBS 2003?

I've read some are using shadow copy and Cobian to backup their exchange but I'm concerned about flushing the log files.

Do an NTBackup of your Exchange, then use Cobian as you want to and test.
