Here are 2 of the same switches. One web console works the other doesn't.

Switch             Ports               Model              SW Version            SW Image
This version web console works.
SwitchB#    1     52         WS-C3560-48PS      12.2(44)SE2           C3560-ADVIPSERVICESK9-M

This version web console doesn't.
SwitchA#    1           52    WS-C3560-48PS      12.2(46)SE            C3560-ADVIPSERVICESK9-M

You do not have the html files on that switch.  A show flash command would show you an entry with the name of the IOS image but the tags would look like this:

drwx instead od -rwx.

The d stands for directory and the html files are contained in that directory

Go to cisco's website and pull down the TAR version of the image.  That will contain all the html stuff as well.

Install that with the following command:

archive download-sw /overwrite /reload tftp://192.168.01./filename.tar

Of course use your own ip address and the full ios filename with the tar extension.

Can I load the working switches IOS to the one not working?
0
Ken BooneNetwork ConsultantCommented:
Hmm.. I haven't done that.  Basically the tar file gets extracted and all the files put in to the appropriate directories in flash.  There is an archive upload-sw command that should do it for you.

Here is the doc:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst3560/software/release/12.1_19_ea1/configuration/guide/swiosfs.html#wp1021182

Go to the section titled Uploading an Image File By Using TFTP

The switches must be the same type switches for this to work.  Basically you will create a tar file on your tftp server from all of the files on the working switch.  You will then have a tar file to which you can push down to the non-working switch.

Hey! I got a couple of the tar files for the 3560.

c3560-advipservicesk9-tar.122-35.SE
c3560-ipbase-tar.122-25.SEE

I have about 10 of these tar files. How are they generally named... Like want would ipbase or advipservicesk9 mean?

Thanks!

In the case of these switches, ip base will allow you do to ip routing using static routes, rip or stub eigrp, whereas advipservices will allow you to do ospf and full eigrp as well.  There are other differences but that is the major one that sticks out in my mind.  Most of the time the only time I really need advipservices is when I am running eigrp in the switches.  Basically they are different feature sets.  advipservices has more features than ipbase.

Sweet thanks. This is probably a stupid question but I should verify...

When I download and overwrite the .tar file on the switch will it effect the any current config settings?
Should this be done after hours?

THanks!!!

Ken BooneNetwork ConsultantCommented:
No the config will not be changed, however, I always back up my configs before I make major changes like this in case something blows up.  Yes, you should do this off hours as the switch will need to reboot.
