Aggregate missing values defines the behavior Essbase uses when t rolls up a dimension.  If aggregate missing values is on, Essbase will overwrite upper level members with the value of their descendants.  SO if you have a parent member like Q1 with a value of 100 and Jan, Feb, and Mar are all missing (null), then Essbase will overwrite the 100 at Q1 with missing.
If Aggregate Missing is OFF, Essbase would not over write the value in Q1.

This is usually an issue when working with allocations  where users may enter numbers at an upper level member in order to run a calculation that will spread the data across descendants.

It is important tho note that AGGREGATE MISSING OFF is not as efficient as running with it ON.  When it is OFF, Essbase has to evaluate all the upper level blocks to see if they have data values before rolling up.  When it is ON, Essbase does not have to look at the upper level blocks, it just automatically overwrites them with the lower level values.
