I have had some major issue with DNS and I believe that my "domain" may be corrupt but the domain controllers seem to be fine.  I am getting security errors when I try to do a ipconfig /registerdns from other servers and I cannot add a vista workstation to the domain is says the domain is not available.  Are there any tools to diagnos this situation?

Well obviously I am now in the middle of something else.  I redid the DNS servers for this domain and for about 1/2 hour it would work if I did an ipconfig /registerdns to add the A record and the ptr record back but now it is not working.  How can I diagnos this?

After some diagnostics I have found that I somehow have two DC's not talking on the same "network"  if I try to move the FSMO roles I get an error on the Schema that it cannot contact the holder of the schema.  Any ideas on what to do with that?

I have learned that you are not suppose to re-promote a DC after demoting it with the same name without reloading it.  Didn't know that.  I am going to promote another server in my network so that I have 2 "new" DC's when all done.  This would be my answer.
