Running BE 11d build 7170. &nbsp;I have a backup job that backs up a local drive on the media server. &nbsp;The job runs a pre-execution batch file that takes a snapshot of a volume and presents it as drive X: to the media server, then the job backs up drive X:. &nbsp;It's been running fine for quite some time, but recently it periodically fails with:<br />

e000848c - Unable to attach to a resource. &nbsp;Make sure that all selected resources exist and are online, and then try again. &nbsp;For additional information regarding this error refer to link V-79-57344-33932<br />

I've looked at the suggestions on <a href="http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/327019.htm" rel="ugc nofollow">http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/327019.htm</a>&nbsp;but none of them seem applicable. &nbsp;I've verified that the script that presents the snapshot works and the drive and data is accessible on the media server.<br />

When I right-click on the failed job in the job history and retry, the retry always seems to run fine.

Backup Exec - e000848c - Unable to attach to a resource

The term "Backup" means the methods and processes involved to copy computer data (system data as well as application data) to media other than the ones where the data originally live (disk, tape, optical, cloud). "Restore" in turn means the methods and processes involved in data recovery, i. e., bringing back copied computer data to their original location. Backup/Restore primarily serves as a means of protection against data loss, be it due to disaster, corruption or sabotage. It can also be used for recovering data from an earlier point in time and even for cloning machines or applications. There is a wide variety of backup/restore software available, from expensive commercial products to free or open source tools.
