Looking for a centrally managed document or file search solution for a corporate network that doesnt cost $30000 for a google seach appliance.
A company has less than 100,000 documents on a data server that is Windows Server 2003 and has a subfolder structure which the users want to perform searches as fast as Google that also has the content included in the search. They do not want to use Sharepoint.
At the moment performing a search for a specific document can take a while (if they are patient enough).
Any ideas on improving Windows Server 2003 searching or is Windows Server 2008 any better at searches.
In a previous life I used searchserver with DOCSOpen which was a sql server document management system with another huge database just for the indexing of the documents. Unfortunetly they don't want to spend 10's of thousands on a solution.
