apple mail program with exchange 2003

hi

is there any steps required to do on exchange to let my apple mail connect to it ?

There have been a number of posts on this subject in the past and you might want to search for them. The general consensus is that Mac Mail in Leopard does not play nice with Exchange servers, but it might once Snow Leopard is released in September. In the meantime, If you have MS Office installed on your computer, I suggest you use Entourage, which is part of Office, to connect to Exchange:
