Avaya IP Office seems to delay ringing when calling from external number.

I am having a problem with my IP500 unit from Avaya.  When calling from an external number, it will ring twice (on external phone) before it actually rings in our office.

I have it set up now so that all incoming external calls are routed to a hunt group.  The firmware on the unit is up-to-date.

I assume the culprit is some setting in the IP Office Manager.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

What type of line are you using.  If it is an analog line, then this is normal operation.  An analog line will send the caller ID of the incoming call in between the first and second ring.  If the IP Office is setup to use analog ICLID (incoming caller ID), then it will wait to receive the caller ID before routing the call.  You can change the line type to just analog, but you will then lose caller ID.

If you are using a digital line, such as a PRI-T1, then this would be a different issue.
