Is your DC working? Check the DNS configuration on exchange server. Try starting the services manually. Also you may try rebooting server.

I rebooted many times .....Th DNS configuration on exchange server is:

the Preferred DNS is pointing to the 2ndary DNS Server in the domain and our DC is working fine. nslookup shows correct name resolution on exchange server. This exchange server is also a DC.

I restarted services many times too ...

Is NetLogon service started?
Is windows firewall enabled? If yes disable it..

Check that the "Exchange servers" group has the rights to "manage audit and security logs". On DC, go to Start -> Programs -> Admin tools -> Domain controller security -> Local settings -> User Rights and find the manage audit and security logs option. Add the group if required.

Enable MSExchangeDSAccess diagnostic logging. Set Topology logging to maximum and see errors (You may get dome clue.

Do you have updated the exchange server with all critical patches? Run ExBPA and check if your are missing any updates or configuration.

Also run the command: setspn -l exch01 where exch01 is your exchange virtual server name and paste the results..

Hi subsun thanx for your comments ...

well. .. I have a total of three Domain COntrollers

First = Domain Controller + WDC . All FSMO roles with it. GC
2nd GPSC1 = Domain Controller + DHCP server / Primary DNS
3rd GPSC2 = Domain Controller + Exchange server 2003 Ent

The replmon i ran on GPSC2 shows that repication between the FSMO role hoder = WDC and the Exchange server GPSC2 has not been successful since july 4th....

And in replmon there are no records showing of any replication information on the FSMO role holder = WDC.....

When I go to following path

Start -> Programs -> Admin tools -> Domain controller security

Netlogon service is good and firewall is off ..

it gives an error

""Failed to open a group policy object. You may not have appropriate rights

details: the specified domains either does not exist or could not be contacted""

I did do the crictical updates which were successful on GPSC2.

To which DNS server exchange server is pointed to?
