I restored the exchange database on a new server using NTbackup. All of the mail boxes were restored to the new exchange server. The problem is that all but a handful will not reconnect to the user.

When I select exchange tasks, reconnect; it does not show any users to select from. If I type out he users name I get an error stating user not found. Is there something I need to do in Active Directory after the restore? This is a new SBS 2003 server, none of the users have logged into their accounts yet.

Make sure the available users don't already have exchange attributes. You may need to go to the user in AD > right click > Exchange Tasks > remove Exchange attributes > then, go and try to reconnect the mailboxes.

Or, try creating a new user without any Exchange attributes and see if the user is available to attach it to.
