I have a heap of certificates to print with different names on each. Is there a way to read the names from an excel spreadsheet automatically, like a mail merge feature?

Hi TonyCabone,

Nope.  Not in Illustrator.  You could export it as a PNG and use that in Word to get the merge you need.
