"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

It would be better to once an item is selected from the dropdownlist, to save this value into the database and then to bind the gridview to the database. This way, your value will be there.
But if you don't want to save it into the database, you can access the label as following:

((Label)(GridView1.Rows[0].FindControl("YourLabel"))).Text = DropDownList.SelectedItem.Text;
