Hi

I'm supporting someone whose recent Outlook Express 6 email (about 4 months worth) is missing, apparently after MS Update had applied a number of updates. All folders were affected  as if there had simply been no email activity between 3/09/09 and 7/14/09.   The updates applied were: KB92361, KB968537, KB960803, KB969897, KB970238, KB890830, KB959772, KB969898, KB952004, KB969501, KB956572, KB960225, KB961373, KB959426.   The computer did an auto restart after these updates. Upon restart, the emails were gone.

Any ideas what happened or how to recover the lost email?

Thanks!

Mark

mlitin--Look in the Recycle Bin.  If a Compacting was run (in the background or manually) the files could be there.  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918069/en-us
If not there, use a program like DBXtract.  http://www.updatexp.com/tip23.html
An older, but free version is available here

It is possible the message file folders were allowed to get too big.  The following may be a useful reference for the future.   http://www.microsoft.com/windows/IE/community/columns/filecorruption.mspx
