Sketchup recover deleted surface or create a new surface

I am using Google Sketchup 7 (the free version). If I select/delete a surface, like in a squre,or
cylinderical sheets, how can I add it back?  I mean the lines still there but they form a frame but no surface.

I doesn't appear you can.  I was able to delete the lines and re-create the surface.
