What is the best PHP CMS to build a community site?

Hi,
I want to create a community website (with integrated forums) similar to http://www.hojunara.com/. Can anybody please suggest what is the best PHP CMS or framework to build & maintain a community site like this? I have heard about PHP-Fusion but I cannot decide. Is there any other open source or paid options with more options including custom theme, etc ??

Hello,

If you want to create a real social network, I recommend you use elgg (http://elgg.org/) . Elgg is a powerful, professional social engine.

If you need cms features more than social network features, you could also use Joomla (www.joomla.org) extended with jomsocial (www.jomsocial.com) or community builder (www.joomlapolis.com) components.

Thanks for your comments. I am not looking for a social networking site. I am more looking for a CMS system with forum & news integration etc. Joomla community builder has got extensions but very less themes or templates...

If you are planning to build a community website, its better to use Drupal. Its a really good CMS/Framework which can be used for your any customization.

You may also use some Community Scripts in PHP like Elgg, Pligg etc.
